Students
A new committee post called the Student’s Liaison
Officer has been created. This post will be a
direct link between the students and the IICMS
committee.
The current Student Liaison Officer is Sean Walsh.
Sean was a graduate of the BSc Clinical Measurement in
2006. He currently works in the Cardiac Department
in St James Hospital. Having been a student in
Clinical Measurement he is the ideal candidate for being
your link to us here on the committee.
We would encourage all students but particularly
those in 4th year to become student members of the
IICMS. Currently membership is free.
Clinical Placements:
We would like to wish all 3rd years heading off their
first clinical placements the best of luck in their 3
chosen specialities. During your clinical
placement you will be see the practical side of the
theory you learn in lectures demonstrated. We would
advise that you make the most of your placements and
remember that this is your opportunity to learn those
essential practical skills –creating a scientist -
patient relationship, dealing with a difficult patient
or parent, knowing what do to do in a critical situation
or emergency, complex prompt interpretation of studies,
dealing with medical staff including consultant, medical
terminology and much more.
Students:
This section is for
all students studying Clinical Measurement Science.
This includes students of the BSc Clinical Measurement
Science, DIT.
The IICMS primarily
has an education function and as students you form a
very important section in our industry.
Development for
this section includes:
· Lecture
notes from specialist lecturers working in clinical
measurement science.
· Application
for student membership. We aim to have online
payment facilities for members in the near future.
Student membership to the IICMS is €15 per annum.
As a member you will receive a seasonal newsletter with
all the latest news in the industry. You will also
be entitled to access to the members only section on
this website.
· Information
on post graduate training and further development of the
current BSc.
· Information
on 3rd and 4th year student
placements and student locum posts.
· Employment
opportunities.
