Description

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust.
London WC1N 3JH.

Department of Clinical Neurophysiology – Videotelemetry Service

Advanced & Highly Specialist Clinical Physiologists (Neurophysiology) – Band 6/7

Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Trust, well known as a specialised children's hospital in the centre of London, is looking for an experienced Clinical Physiologist to join our large and enthusiastic team. There are three major areas of expertise within the department, telemetry services, spinal monitoring and the general investigation service, which has specialised interests in ITU investigations. All work under the one management team.

The telemetry unit has 5 dedicated telemetry beds, 4 on the acute neurology ward and 1 on the private patient wing. The patients presenting to the department range from pre-term infants to adolescents. Many have complex neurological and clinical problems and have been referred from tertiary centres elsewhere. The successful candidate would mainly work in the long-term monitoring unit but there is also opportunity to participate in electrocorticography; chronic invasive monitoring as well as other specialist investigations such as methohexital suppression tests. Training will be given in areas unfamiliar to the candidate and support will be available from existing personnel.

The department has a longstanding commitment and history of new developments in the field of paediatric clinical neurophysiology. The successful candidate can expect to take a role in such developments. The department is committed to training and regular study and training sessions are mandatory for all staff, with the opportunity to attend courses and meetings at both national and international level.

For further information or an informal visit please contact Kelly St. Pier (Professional Service Manager) or Dr. Ronit Pressler (Consultant Neurophysiologist) on +44 207 405 9200 (extn 5154).
